Beautifully restored Masia in Esponellà

Stunning Masia is located on the outskirts of the village Esponellá. Set in approximately 10,000 square meters of beautiful gardens and woodlands. This property has spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and on to the Pyrenees yet very accessible to Girona (20 minutes), AVE station in Figueres (30 minutes) and Barcelona (90 minutes).

The Masia has been fully renovated with impeccable taste retaining all the character of the original building but with all modern conveniences. There are a number of alternative seating areas both internally and externally around the house offering potential all year round alfresco dining and areas to relax.

As in traditional style, the Masia is on two floors distributed as follows: On entry to the ground floor level, the striking vaulted ceilings and stone masonry reflect the age of the property. On this level there is a fully fitted, modern and practical kitchen. Next to the kitchen there is a dining room with bifold doors and a log burning stove. The dining room opens on to a sheltered terrace. Also on this level are two generous double bedrooms and bathroom. Further along on there is a double height drawing room which opens on to another wonderful external covered terrace with both seating and dining areas.

On the upper level, there is an extensive winter living room with mezzanine balcony looking overlooking the drawing room below. All three upper level bedrooms and the bathrooms can be accessed from this area. The master bedroom opens on to another sizable outdoor terrace which overlooks the pool and gardens. The fifth double bedroom is currently being used as a study space with fibre optic broadband.

All the ceilings on this upper level are with wooden beams placed perpendicular to the facade and covered by tiles made from the "horno"(Oven) which is tucked into the hillside to the side of the house.

The immediate area around the house is set in landscape and beautifully planted gardens. The 10 meter x 5 meter pool is surrounded by outdoor terraces including a seating area with wrought iron pergola and shower area. In a more rustic part of the garden there is a fantastic barbecue and pizza oven, along with a bordered wall which is ideal for parties and entertaining large groups. On the hillside beside the barbecue area is another chill out space complete with stone "fire-pit" with magnificent views over the countryside and on to the Pyrenees.

This area is well serviced with many alternative shopping locations and markets with Banyoles being the just a 15 minute drive away.

The Costa Brava with its Mediterranean beaches are also a short drive of 30 minutes from the Masia.

There are many well-marked cycling routes and this is a very popular cycling destination.

The location enjoys a bounty of hiking trails just past the front gate and horseback riding is available nearby with treks lasting from hours to days.

Esponellá is very easily accessible with Barcelona airport 135 km, Girona airport 42 km and the French border just 45 km away.
